Happy 4th of July

The Fourth of July is almost here, and it’s time to celebrate America’s birthday.  Our flag has been waving high since 1776, but do you know what the colors mean?  The red represents the blood shed by those who fought for our nation’s independence.  The white represents purity and innocence.  And the blue symbolizes the bravery of those who stared danger in the face to fight for freedom.  (*Freedom for white, straight men).

Independence day is particularly significant this year, as Americans are learning about how those at the highest level of government tried to destroy our democracy.  Many elected leaders demonstrated a craven abdication of their moral duty to protect our Constitution and were willing to sacrifice what many Americans fought and died for.  In stark contrast, a 26-year-old woman had the courage to expose the shocking details of this seditious insurrection.
